Preparation Checklist
Everything you need to know to prepare for your baby's circumcision appointment
This checklist is for the circumcision procedure appointment. If your baby is over 6 months, an assessment with Dr Omar is required first — call us on 1300 376 627 or request a callback.
What to Bring
Medicare or health insurance card, if you have one. Medicare eligibility depends on the patient, procedure and applicable Medicare requirements, and a card does not itself guarantee a benefit. See our notes on circumcision costs and Medicare.
Baby's Blue Book / health record
Proof of Vitamin K injection at birth
1-2 nappies
Change of clothes for baby
Baby wipes
Dummy/pacifier or bottle
Infant Panadol (paracetamol)
Feeding Guidelines
Before the Appointment:
- Feed your baby as normal - there is no need to fast
- Try to feed approximately 30-60 minutes before the appointment
- A calm, fed baby is easier to settle during the procedure
After the Procedure:
- You can feed your baby immediately after - this helps comfort them
- Breastfeeding or bottle feeding provides natural soothing
Nappy Changes
Please ensure your baby has a fresh nappy before arriving at the clinic. This helps keep the area clean and makes the procedure easier to perform.
Change nappy just before leaving home
Bring at least 1-2 spare nappies
Loose-fitting nappies are recommended for the first few days after
What to Dress Baby In
Loose, comfortable clothing that's easy to remove
Two-piece outfits are easier than onesies for nappy access
Avoid tight elastic waistbands
Bring a spare outfit in case of any mess

Please contact us to reschedule if your baby has any of the following:
Fever or high temperature
